Leeds Rhinos eased their Super League relegation fears with a stunning 44-0 win away at Huddersfield Giants on Friday.

The Rhinos have struggled to build momentum in a tricky campaign but dominated Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield at John Smith's Stadium, scoring eight tries in an outstanding display.

The game had been scoreless for almost 20 minutes before a flurry of Leeds tries took them out of sight.

Adam Cuthbertson crossed and was soon followed by Tom Briscoe, with Konrad Hurrell then stretching the advantage further.

Briscoe was forced off following an awkward turn to briefly put a dampener on proceedings for Leeds, but Brad Dwyer got in on the act before half-time.

Six minutes into the second period, Ash Handley marked his 100th Rhinos appearance with a try and he would round out the scoring after a further two efforts.

Hurrell's own second came after a video review and Liam Sutcliffe put the finishing touches to a smart break, meaning Handley's next try capped an improbably one-sided affair which saw Leeds move above the Giants and up to eighth.

League leaders St Helens also found life easy after a blistering first half, with Danny Richardson, Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Tommy Makinson scoring in quick succession against Wakefield Trinity.

Kevin Naiqama touched down late for Saints and the only Wakefield riposte came from Kelepi Tanginoa in a 26-6 defeat.
