Hull move level with Warrington as Wakefield struggles go on

Hull FC moved level on points with second-placed Warrington Wolves in Super League after a routine 26-16 win over Wakefield Trinity.

Warrington's loss to St Helens gave Hull the chance to eradicate the two-point gap between themselves and the Wolves and they did so in comfortable fashion.

Home side Wakefield, for whom Morgan Escare was making his debut after joining on loan from Wigan Warriors, took the lead through Ryan Hampshire's 11th-minute score.

Hull responded in style, though, as they scored 20 unanswered points by half-time with Bureta Faraimo, Marc Sneyd, Carlos Tuimavave and Ratu Naulago all going over.

Naulago's second gave Wakefield even more of a mountain to climb, with four-pointers from Joe Arundel and Jacob Miller mere consolations.

Wakefield are still only two points above bottom club London Broncos, as are Huddersfield Giants after a 32-12 loss at Salford Red Devils, who move back into the top five.

Oliver Russell's try had Huddersfield 12-10 up early in the second half but Salford then added 22 points without reply, Krisnan Inu kicking eight goals and scoring one of their four tries in a superb showing.
