Bottom side Huddersfield Giants consigned Wigan Warriors to a fourth consecutive defeat with a shock 14-6 Super League win and St Helens beat London Broncos to maintain their perfect start.

Huddersfield arrived at the DW Stadium without a victory this season, but piled more agony on the defending champions on Friday.

There was good news for the Warriors this week when their two-point deduction for salary-cap breaches was suspended until March 2020, but tries from Kruise Leeming and Joe Wardle extended their losing streak.

Leeming went over for a try which Lee Gaskell converted to put the Giants 6-0 up at the break and although Wigan were level after a Morgan Escare score, the Warriors were unable to kick on.

Wardle crossed following a penalty from Leeming, who added the extras for a second time to get Huddersfield up and running and leave the Warriors languishing in 10th spot.

London stunned Wigan last week, but they were brought back down to earth by a 26-0 defeat which put Saints top with five wins out of five.

Dominique Peyroux, Regan Grace, Theo Fages, Lachlan Coote and Kevin Naiqama touched down in a one-sided encounter.

Leeds Rhinos are second-bottom with just one win out of six following a 34-10 drubbing at Hull FC, who ran riot with five tries in the first half.
