Danny Houghton scored a try on his 350th appearance for Hull FC in a pulsating 25-16 derby win over Hull KR and Castleford Tigers claimed an impressive Super League win over Wigan Warriors.

Long-serving captain Houghton got on the end of a Marc Sneyd grubbler kick to score in the first half at a raucous KCOM Stadium on Friday.

Houghton's score and Jake Connor's early try gave Lee Radford's men, who started the season with a 30-4 thumping of Leeds Rhinos last Sunday, a slender 12-10 lead at half-time.

Rovers had been in front following tries from Harvey Livett and Adam Quinlan and they led again when Ben Crooks dotted down for a sensational 51st-minute score.

Two tries in the space of seven minutes from Sneyd and Josh Griffin made it advantage FC. Sneyd added a late drop goal as City rivals Rovers were beaten after a victory over Wakefield Trinity in their opening match of the campaign.

Castleford also made it two wins out of two, Derrell Olpherts and Cheyse Blair going over in a 16-12 defeat of Wigan at The Jungle.
