Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley has been ruled out for the rest of the season, as will undergo surgery to repair a bone protrusion in his left heel.

Conley has played in just 12 games this term, most recently against the Milwaukee Bucks on November 13, but previously denied the injury is related to the Achilles issue that caused him to miss 26 games in the 2015-16 season.

He will not return to the court in the current campaign, but Memphis expect him to be fit for the start of 2018-19 training camp.

"Conley will undergo surgery to smooth a small bone protrusion in his left heel that continues to cause pain and soreness," a Grizzlies statement said.

"He will be unavailable for the remainder of the 2017-18 season but is expected to make a full recovery prior to 2018-19 training camp."
