The Golden State Warriors halted a three-game losing streak against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, with Draymond Green hoping the result can be a "turning point".
The Warriors started the season well at 12-3, only to tumble to 15-15 approaching their meeting with former star Kevin Durant and the Suns.
Despite Durant scoring 31 points, the Warriors pulled out a big performance to win 109-105, with Green joining Trayce Jackson-Davis on 16 points in support of Jonathan Kuminga (34 points) and Stephen Curry (22).
Looking back at the start of the Warriors' malaise, which began with back-to-back defeats to the San Antonio Spurs and Brooklyn Nets in November, Green highlighted the importance of momentum.
"When I look at where the season turned, it turned in San Antonio and Brooklyn, those back-to-back games," Green said.
"That was the turning point. There's no reason why this can't be a turning point to turn it back, but you've got to build on it though.
"It doesn't just happen. You're not out of the woods. We're 16-and-15, so we got to put some wins together. I think we're capable of doing that."
Kuminga's 34-point haul was his second in as many games, with 2021's seventh overall pick having endured an up-and-down campaign to date.
He was not given a contract extension in preseason and was recently dropped from the starting lineup by Warriors coach Steve Kerr, but Green has been impressed by his response.
"He's one of the most talented guys on the team, by far, and it's good to see him playing the way he's playing," Green said.
"We just need him to stay that aggressive. When he's on the court, we're going to feature him, and it's on him to do the rest, and he's doing it.
"He's more than capable, and he'll continue to get better, and he'll continue to do more."
Green shot 3-of-5 from 3-point range on Saturday. He is now up to 702 3s made for the Warriors, overtaking Jason Richardson (700) to go third on the franchise's all-time list.
He is unlikely to move up any further, though, with Curry (3,853) and Klay Thompson (2,481) well clear.
