Aznil Bidin became the second Malaysian athlete to win a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Thursday.

After national compatriot Azroy Hazalwafie Izhar Ahmad's gold medal-winning feat, the 24-year-old followed suits in the men's weightlifting 62kg event at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre, Gold Coast.

Aznil initially fell behind Papua New Guinea's Morea Baru (127kg) and Pakistan's Talha Talib, who set a new Games record of 132kg, with his 126kg effort in the snatch category.

However, he bounced back in the clean and jerk, lifting 162kg to overtake the duo for the gold medal.
