Amy Kwan Dict Weng became Malaysia's second-ever rhythmic gymnast to win an individual gold at the Commonwealth Games on Friday.

The 23-year-old scored 13.20 points in the ribbon event to edge out Cyprus' Diamanto Evripidou (12.90) and compatriot Koi Sie Yan (12.00) for the gold medal at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre in Gold Coast.

It was her fourth 2018 Commonwealth Games medal after clinching silver in the team event with Koi and Izzah Amzan, and bronze in individual all-around and hoop.

Along with Koi's two other silver medals, the total of seven medals was Malaysia's best medal tally in rhythmic gymnastics since 2010, when Elaine Koon single-handedly brought home five medals from New Delhi.

Koon also bagged the country's first individual Games gold medal when she won the hoop event.
