Minnesota Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards said Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the "MVP of the NBA" after another impressive performance.

The Thunder triumphed 113-105 over the Timberwolves on Tuesday, with Gilgeous-Alexander scoring 40 points for the third time in five games, including 19 points in the third quarter as Oklahoma City took control.

It was a 12th straight win for the Thunder to extend their record to 27-5, with Isaiah Hartenstein adding 15 points and 10 rebounds and Lu Dort and Jalen Williams scoring 14 points apiece.

Despite a slow start, Oklahoma City rallied in the second half before edging in front in the third, forcing 24 turnovers, including 16 steals, during the game.

Edwards, who had 20 points and seven rebounds, thought he had found a way for Minnesota to get back into the game until Gilgeous-Alexander's intervention late on.

"[He's] the MVP of the NBA," Edwards told ESPN.

"To me, he's unguardable. As far as any one-on-one matchup, yeah, you can go on and give it up. Just give him two points most of the time. So, I think you got to trap him.

"Maybe that don't work, but you got to try it. For sure, you got to send a second body, especially if he got a favorable matchup. Anytime he got somebody that he knows can't guard him, he's going to score every time."

Gilgeous-Alexander just missed out on being awarded MVP last season, finishing runner-up behind Nikola Jokic, but Edwards is certain he could win the accolade for the first time this year.

"I don't know if they could give it to [Jokic] again," Edwards added. "Yeah, I would say Shai. Yeah, he's looking like the MVP, man. He was incredible once again tonight.

"He's consistent every night. His team gonna give him the ball and just let him rock out every night. It's nothing to think about. 'Hey, get Shai the ball, and he's going to get busy, and then we're going to figure it out after that.'

"I love watching that. It's incredible, man. If he is keeping him like that, I hope they give [MVP] to him this year for sure. I feel like he should have won it last year, but he's playing out his mind right now."

Gilgeous-Alexander, meanwhile, was flattered to receive praise from one of his competitors.

"No offense to you guys in the media, but the best satisfaction is when your peers and the guys that do the same thing for a living at a very high level that you do recognize and respect your craft and your talent," he said. "That's a really good feeling.

"Obviously, the caliber player he is, the sky's the limit. Hard-fought battle tonight."
