Two-time national champion Nafiizwan Adnan withdrew in the third set against England’s George Parker after sustaining an injury.

He won the first set 12-10 and lost 7-11 in the second set before deciding to pull out while leading 1-0 in the third set.

Former world junior champion Ng Eain Yow crashed out from the competition after being whitewashed by French player Gregoire Marche 4-11, 6-11, 6-11 in just half an hour.

National top ranked junior player S. Sivasangari also failed to advance to the main draw after she was beaten by Nele Gilis of Belgium 11-7, 6-11, 7-11, 5-11.

Malaysian squash queen and five-time British Open winner Nicol David did not participate in this year’s edition due to a hamstring injury.
