Malaysia Qualifier
Fantasy Cup: Road to Thailand was held at Orange Esports Stadium situated in Setapak, Kuala
Lumpur. A total of 23 team participated in the double-elimination tournament. During the eventful
day, we witnessed best players from various clans gathered in one place in hopes to represent
Malaysia in EACC. There were players from eMaster, Royal Flush, and Happy Green, to name a
few.
Fire Dragoon, a local eSports organization sent two teams namely Fire Dragoon (Wintersss,
zFeedMeMore, sm00th) and Fire Dragoon Youth (Rippedjean, NiamaGa1, KaiZokuuu). Both
teams had an amazing run in Fantasy Cup as they managed to proceed to the final stages of the
international qualifier.
Muhammad “LetMeYou” Irfan from HG.Flash certainly stole the show. The 14 years old prodigy
single-handedly beat all 3 players of eMaster.Callant (eMasterGuiMa, eMasterSt3aDy,
eMasterJie) in the first round of Best-of-5 (Bo5). Even though HG.Flash fell short in the semi-final,
LetMeYou continued displaying impeccable gameplay when he once again carried HG.Flash into
the finals when he defeated GiFTRoyalFlush 3-0.
The grand final was certainly a breathtaking Best-of-5. It started with LetMeYou going up against
Darren “Rippedjean” Gan. Rippedjean scored at a very early stage of the game at 8”. He then
continued to maintain his lead by playing at rather slow pace, keeping possession of the ball. A
vicious tackle by LetMeYou at 62” in the penalty box granted Rippedjean a penalty kick, in which
he did not waste to further his lead and won the match with the score line 2-0.
Aiman “Sekaiichi” Roshizam was the second man of team HG.Flash while Rippedjean remained
in his seat as the first player of Fire Dragoon Youth. Sekaiichi managed to gain the lead through
a finesse shot into the net. Hungry for more goals, a header at 30” minute increased Sekaiichi’s
lead to 2-0. Even though Rippedjeann scored a goal, Sekaiichi was determined to win the match
and he later scored another finisher, winning the match 3-1.
The third match was between Muhammad “KaiZokuuu” Shahrizan and Sekaiichi. Sekaiichi once
again scored an opening goal but KaiZokuu instantly replied with an equalizer, leaving both
players at 1-1. The game dragged into extra time where KaiZokuuu scored his winning goal and
ended the match with the scoreline 2-1.
With both LetMeYou and Sekaiichi defeated, it was up to Aaron “J0K3R” Gomez to carry his team.
The former EACC representative of Malaysia eliminated KaiZokuuu 1-0, forcing NiamaGa1 into
the Bo5. Ryan “NiamaGa1” Kan and J0K3R both played safe, keeping possession while looking
for the golden opportunity to net a goal. NiamaGa1 shocked both his opponent and the audience
with a seemingly unreal finisher. Some may call it luck, but a goal is a goal, and that single goal
lead team Fire Dragoon Youth to champion the tournament and won them the rights to represent
Malaysia in the upcoming EACC. They will be playing under the name Fire Dragoon in the
international stage. Congratulations to Fire Dragoon!
Singapore Qualifier
Fantasy Cup: Singapore Qualifier took place in Alienware Arena with participation from 8 teams.
The tournament witnessed familiar faces such as Amer “XxSousukexX” Hamzah, Gerald
“Monehhh” Lim, and Ng “Javs” Ming Wei. Azuri Crew (XxSousukexX, xJaron, hullrocks) who
were the finalists of National Championship Season 5 competed as team Impunity.
A local star, Joseph “Zarate” Yeo teamed up with Amraan “Amraan” Gani and China’s Esports
FIFA Player of the Year 2017 Li “WEyuwenC” Si Jun. In addition to their out-of-this-world lineup,
Fardeen “Fardhino” Hussain joined them as team coach. If there were ever a dream team for
Singapore, this might be it!
Similar to Malaysia version of Fantasy Cup, the tournament was carried out in Bo5 format.
Interesting enough, Zarate was put as the first player in his team’s lineup for every single match
during Fantasy Cup and he wiped out all opponent teams. Amraan and WEyuwenC did not even
had the chance to break a single sweat on their controllers and was ‘forced’ to sit back and relax
while watching Zarate single-handedly carry the team to victory and raked in $1,000 SGD.
With regards to the expectations for these two teams, FIFA Online 3 Head of eSports, Syed
Nazirul Nazrin said, “these two teams are a good mix of experience and talent. We are excited to
see how the foreign player in Team Flash will perform for us as well!”.
