The impressive Putrajaya Cyborg got their first win in the Sepak Takraw League Premier division by beating the Johor Tigris 2-0 on Friday.

The Putrajaya outfit, who secured promotion alongside STL Division 1 winners Bomba Fighters last season, secured the 21-16, 21-17 victory at the the Titiwangsa Stadium behind Muslim Mohammad's 19 winners — 17 spikes, two taps and one header.

Arguably one of the most entertaining sides so far, they had given the ATM Guardians and the Perak Bison a run for their money in the opening gameweek of the 2021/22 season, losing both matches in a close fashion.

The Bomba Fighters nearly joined them in getting a maiden win but fell 21-18, 16-21, 12-21 to the Selangor Piston.

Meanwhile, defending champions Kuala Lumpur Thunder suffered their second consecutive league defeat as they lost 1-2 to the Penang Black Panthers.

The tekong deparment proved to be the Kuala Lumpur side's downfall, with both Syahir Rosdi and Aizat Azmi being largely ineffective, as they were downed 20-22, 21-18, 16-21.

With the victory — their third in a row — the Black Panthers climbed to the top of the standings as they temporarily overtook the Guardians, who face the Bison later on the same day.
