The ATM Guardians have clinched the 2021/22 Emas Anuar Sepak Takraw League (STL) Premier title after results went their way on Friday.

To mathematically win the title, the league leaders, who had an eight-point lead at the top over the Kuala Lumpur Thunder, needed to beat the Johor Tigris and hoped the defending champions lost to the Selangor Pistons.

ATM did their part by coming from a set down and winning a nail-biting final set in the first match of the day at the Spice Arena in Bayan Baru, Penang.

The Thunder, who must win their match to keep their slim title defence alive, suffered the opposite fate as plenty of unforced errors saw them lose 21-17, 11-21, 19-21 in the Klang Valley derby.

With a 10-point gap and only four matches left for the Thunder, the Guardian sealed their first Premier title since 2015.

They had finished the past three seasons as runners-up.
