Melbourne Storm were kept off the scoresheet for just the sixth time in their 23-year history as they lost 14-0 to Parramatta Eels on Thursday.

The NRL's top two defensive sides gave little quarter at Bankwest Stadium but tries from Waqa Blake and Maika Sivo and the boot of Mitchell Moses were enough to down a depleted Storm side.

Blake went over from Ryan Matterson's offload to add to Moses' earlier penalty that had put the Eels ahead, and Sivo's 12th try of the season made it 12-0 before the interval.

Storm lost Ryley Jacks to a hip injury and Nelson Asofa-Solomona to the sin bin, with Moses adding two more points from the resulting penalty.

Brandon Smith was also hurt in the closing stages as a weakened Storm offered little hope of a comeback, ending a game scoreless for the first time since 2014.

They stay second to Penrith Panthers in the standings, with the Eels now level on points in third.
