Brian Boyle is back.

The Devils center will make his regular-season debut Wednesday against the Canucks, the team announced.

Boyle has been working toward getting back on the ice since being diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, a type of bone-marrow cancer, at the start of the training camp in September. He resumed practice Oct. 22 after being medically cleared to play and appears to be ready to get back in action.

"I’m trying to convince myself that for four weeks now," Boyle said after practice Tuesday when asked whether he was ready to play, via NorthJersey.com. "Whether I’m there or not, I’m doing everything I can. I feel pretty good."

Boyle, 32, signed a two-year deal worth $5.5 million with New Jersey on July 1. He has 169 points in 624 games over his 11-year NHL career.

The Devils are scheduled to visit the Canucks at Rogers Arena at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday.
