DeMarcus Cousins injury update: Warriors center (Achilles) may not return until February

DeMarcus Cousins may not return by New Years' Day as was originally hoped.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, a February return is looking more plausible for the Warriors center.

Cousins has been doing on-court work as of late, but Santa Cruz Warriors coach Aaron Miles — who worked with Cousins on Wednesday — told the Chronicle the former Pelicans center is "probably not moving as well as he wants to right now."

The 28-year-old tore his Achilles tendon in January and the recovery time ranges anywhere from eight to 12 months. But it's not an exact science.

"That’s why we still don’t have a timetable," Golden State coach Steve Kerr said. "He needs to feel confident with the Achilles, his conditioning, his rhythm, his timing and everything else. We’re not going to rush him back. We’re going to help him through that process. When it happens, it happens."

The Warriors are 19-10 this season and in a tie for first place in the Western Conference with the Nuggets.
