Robert MacIntyre birdied four of his last six holes to card a seven-under-par 64 and claim his first European Tour title in the Cyprus Showdown.

The 24-year-old Scotsman entered the final two holes at Aphrodite Hills requiring a couple of birdies and achieved exactly that to hold off Japan's Masahiro Kawamura.

MacIntyre, a Rookie of the Year winner for 2019, two-putted from around 20 feet on the final hole as he finished one shot ahead of Kawamura.

"This is what I've been working for," MacIntyre said. "It's been a difficult few months for me - only my family know what's been going on.

"I can't believe it. Cannot believe it. It's what I've dreamed of since I was a little kid watching Scottish Opens at Loch Lomond.

"I gave myself a lot of chances last year and this week the format suited me and we took it out."

An eagle on the final hole saw Jorge Campillo finish third while Callum Shinkwin, who claimed a maiden European Tour title of his own at the Cyprus Open last week, was tied with two others in fourth.
