Siti Zalina Ahmad and Emma Firyana Saroji secured a late comeback win in their first women's pairs match at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The Malaysian lawn bowls pair, who won a gold medal in Gold Coast four years ago, were leading 13-7 over Guernsey's Rosemary Ogier and Lucy Beere in the Section A encounter but allowed their opponents to take a 18-19 lead after 17 ends.

Staring at defeat, Siti and Emma came in clutch in the final end, earning three points to win 21-19.

Siti should also be delighted with the win, as she lost to Beere in the women's singles semi-finals yesterday and had to settle for bronze.

The pair continue their gold medal defence against Cook Islands on Wednesday and then face Malta and Norfolk Island on Thursday.

Meanwhile, fellow Malaysian team-mates Nur Ain Nabilah Tarmizi, Syafiqa Haidar Afif Abdul Rahman and Azlina Arshad lost 14-17 to Fiji in the women's triples and Fairul Izwan Abdul Muin demolished Jamaican lawn bowler Robert Simpson 21-4 in the men's singles.on the same day.
