Malaysian lawn bowlers Siti Zalina Ahmad and Emma Firyana Saroji continued their winning run at the 2022 Commonwealth Games as they secured a place in the women's pairs knockout stage on Thursday.

The Gold Coast 2018 gold medalists prevented a late charge by Maltese sisters Rebecca Louis Rixon and Connie-Leigh Rixon to win 20-16.

Their third win at Victoria Park, after victories over Guernsey on Tuesday and Cook Islands yesterday, sealed a top-two finish in Section A for them, regardless of their final sectional match against Norfolk Island later on the same day.

National team-mate Fairul Izwan Abdul Muin was also through to the men's singles quarter-finals after getting a 21-8 win against England's Jamie Walker, who just won a silver medal in the men's pairs event, in his final Section C match.
