For the second straight Commonwealth Games edition, Pandelela Rinong was unable to win a medal in the women's 10m platform final.

The 29-year-old, who was fourth in Gold Coast four years ago, finished 11th out of 12 divers with 260.90 points from five dives.

She previously medalled gold at New Delhi 2010 and silver at Glasgow 2014 in this event.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix wowed her home crowd at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre with a gold-medal performance by collecting 357.50 points, finishing ahead of English team-mate Lois Toulson (337.30 points) and Canada's Caeli McKay (317.50 points).

After placing seventh in the preliminary round, Pandelela knew she had to step up her game.

Initially starting well with two 60-plus pointers that allowed her to sit in third, the 2021 Diving World Cup winner had a poor third dive that dropped her to sixth.

Her struggle continued in the fourth dive, which all but ruled her out of a podium finish, as well on her final attempt.

Pandelela has a chance to bounce back on Saturday in the women's synchronised 10m platform with Nur Dhabitah Sabri before pairing up with Jellson Jabillin in Monday's mixed synchronised 10m platform.
