Malaysian diver Pandelela Rinong made it through to the women's 10m platform final at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Thursday.

The 29-year-old aquatic star, who narrowly missed out on a podium finish four years ago after winning it in 2010 and finishing second in 2014, scored 283.50 points from five dives to sit seventh in the preliminary round.

With defending champion Melissa Wu focusing on mixed and women's synchronised 10m platform this year and 2018 runner-up Meaghan Benfeito calling time on her career, 17-year-old Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix took the spotlight in Birmingham with 360.60 points to finish higher than the rest.

2018 bronze medalist Lois Toulson (332.00 points) and Australia's Emily Boyd (304.30 points) were the English teen's nearest challengers.

With only 12 of the 14 divers qualifying for the final, New Zealand's Mikali Dawson and Canada's Renee Batalla were the unfortunate two to miss out.

The final is scheduled to take place later on the same day at 2:29AM (Malaysia time).
