Pandelela Rinong continued her struggle at the 2022 Commonwealth Games after she and Nur Dhabitah Sabri missed out on a medal finish in the women's synchronised 10m platform final on Saturday.

The pair, who combined to win the event at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games, were in a strong running for the gold medal in Birmingham after three dives, trailing behind the first place by just 1.80 points.

However, a poor fourth dive cost them terribly as they sat last with one dive remaining.

Despite managing a near-perfect dive on their final attempt, they had to settle for a fourth place finish with 286.08 points, just 0.96 point behind English pair Robyn Birch and Emily Martin (286.92 points).

Australia's Charli Petrov and Melissa Wu (306.00 points) took home gold ahead of England's Eden Cheng and Andrea Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix (298.86 points).

The medal near-miss was another disappointing outing for Pandelela, who finished second last in the women's 10m platform final on Thursday.

Meanwhile, fellow Malaysian diver Ooi Tze Liang finished seventh in the men's three-metre springboard final earlier in the day.
