Malaysian weightlifter Aznil Bidin became a two-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist after winning the men's 61kg category on Saturday.
The gold medal was not in doubt for the 28-year-old as soon as his first snatch attempt when he successfully lifted 127kg, six kilograms clear of Papua New Guinea's Morea Baru at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.
Aznil, who bagged an unexpected men's 62kg gold in Gold Coast four years ago, sealed the win with 158kg in the clean and jerk.
With a total of 285kg, it put him clear at the top ahead of Baru (273kg) and India's P. Gururaja (269kg) but fell short of his personal record of 287kg set in Hanoi, Vietnam, earlier this year.

It was Malaysia's second gold medal in weightlifting after Aniq Kasdan was victorious in the men's 55kg weight class earlier in the day.
Their success exceeded the Malaysian Weightlifting Federation's (MWF) expectation of one gold and two silver for the 2022 edition.
