Catalans Dragons continued to climb the Super League table after building on their victories over Castleford Tigers and Hull FC with a 30-14 defeat of Salford Red Devils at Stade Gilbert Brutus.

A try from Micky McIlorum and two from Matt Whitley helped the hosts to an 18-0 lead at half-time, but Salford came out with renewed intent after the break.

Niall Evalds went over within three minutes of the restart and Ken Sio registered a brace to make it 20-14 with 14 minutes left on the clock as a dramatic turnaround looked possible.

But the Dragons were not finished and Fouad Yaha found the corner before Israel Folau teed up Lewis Tierney for a try that put the game out of Salford's reach.

Ian Watson's men have won just one of their opening six games this season, while Catalans are up to sixth and hold games in hand on the rest of the league.
