Brisbane Broncos halted a four-game losing streak with a 29-6 win over injury-hit Cronulla Sharks and Mahe Fonua bagged a hat-trick as Wests Tigers roared back to defeat Gold Coast Titans in the NRL on Saturday.

The Broncos came out on top in only one of their first six games in 2019, but they stopped the rot after making a strong start at Suncorp Stadium, where the Sharks lost Josh Dugan before kick-off and Shaun Johnson in the first half with hamstring injuries.

Corey Oates steamed through a gap to score the opening try and Alex Glenn ploughed his way over from dummy half as the Sharks were caught cold again inside 11 minutes.

Joe Ofahengaue added a third four-pointer before Anthony Milford - outstanding in his 150th NRL game - found the target with a drop goal and James Roberts took advantage of sluggish Sharks defending to score a fourth try 12 minutes into the second half.

Jayden Brailey got the Sharks on the board with a try midway through the second half but the damage had already been done, with Jamayne Isaako scoring 12 points from the tee as the Broncos lifted the gloom.

The Tigers rallied from 14 points down to beat the Titans 30-14 at Scully Park.

Scores inside the first 15 minutes from Anthony Don and Tyrone Peachey put the Titans on course for victory, but the hosts hit back with six unanswered tries, Fonua completing his treble after Robert Jennings touched down twice and Esan Marsters also went over.
