Malaysia claimed their first 2018 Asian Games medal on Sunday thanks to taekwondo exponent Yap Khim Wen in the women's individual poomsae event.
The 23-year-old was outscored by Iran's Marjan Salahshouri in the semi-finals but was assured of a bronze medal finish by finishing joint-third alongside South Korea's Yun Jihye, who lost to Rosmaniar Defia of Indonesia.
She reached the semis by defeating Qatar's Huda Akbar and China's Ji Yuhan.
Yap's achievement was Malaysia's first taekwondo medal at the Asian Games since Lee Pei Fen and Lee Wan Yuen won bronze in the 2002 edition in Busan, South Korea.
In the men's individual poomsae event, Chew Wei Yan almost made it two medals out of two for Malaysia but was knocked out by South Korea's Kang Min-sung in the quarter-finals.
The poomsae discipline is contested as a medal event for the first time at the Asian Games this year.
