Azizulhasni Awang was unable to replicate his sprint gold medal performance today in the men's keirin final at the 2018 Asian Games as he came third.

The 30-year-old, who won gold in the event in the Guangzhou 2010 edition, were boxed in by Thailand's Jai Angsuthasawit and Japan's Yudai Nitta in the final lap at the Jakarta International Velodrome.

With Azizulhasni out of the way, the Thai rider, who was the lowest ranked cyclist among the finalists at 188th in the world, managed to win the gold medal in a photo finish, edging ahead by just 0.003s.

As for compatriot Shah Firdaus Sahrom, who won a silver medal in the men's team sprint event with Azizulhasni and Fadhil Zonis, he finished first in the 7th-12th place final.
