The ATM Guardians and the Penang Black Panthers continued their 100 per cent winning record to the 2021/22 Emas Anuar Sepak Takraw League (STL) season on Saturday.

Penang were able to overcome the Selangor Pistons 21-16, 13-21, 21-7 to overtake the Guardians at the top temporarily before ATM, who finished runners-up in the past three editions, easily dispatched of the Johor Tigris 21-9, 21-13 to regain their top position.

The defeat to ATM made it four consecutive losses for the Johoreans, who are still without a win this season alongside the Bomba Fighters.

The Kelantan Warriors, who started the day without a defeat like Penang and ATM, failed to maintain their perfect record as they fell 21-18, 18-21, 14-21 to the Negeri Sembilan Antlers.

Meanwhile, defending champions Kuala Lumpur Thunder, who lost their last two matches, put an end to their worrying recent run of form with a 25-24, 13-21, 21-16 victory over the Perak Bison.

Ahmad Aizat Nor Azmi, who celebrated his birthday on the same day, got the nod to start ahead of tekong star Syahir Rosdi and rewarded the faith in him with 13 serve aces.
