Angola, Morocco and Senegal through to round two

Angola, Morocco and Senegal sealed their spots in the second round of FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifying on Saturday.

Eleven-time record African champions Angola beat Egypt 65-58 in Cairo to ensure they will progress from Group C.

Jerson Goncalves was among four Angolan players who were in double figures, finishing with 16 points to leave Egypt needing to beat Morocco in their next match.

Morocco advanced courtesy of a 61-58 overtime success over Democratic Republic of Congo, while Senegal are also through to round two following a 66-61 defeat of Ivory Coast in Dakar, Gorgui Sy Dieng scoring 14 points and claiming 15 rebounds.

Chad now face a winner-takes-all clash with Guinea following their defeat to Tunisia, losing 94-54.

Mali saw off Uganda 95-80, while Nigeria thrashed Rwanda 111-70 and Mozambique were unable to book their second-round berth as they went down 72-63 to Central African Republic.
