Amirudin Shari gave his word that he would help the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) look for a new venue if negotiations over the Kinrara Oval broke down.
The MCA revealed on Tuesday that they received a notice to vacate the Oval by October 31 to make way for redevelopment, which had drawn criticism from the local and international cricket community.
According to the Selangor chief minister, a discussion had already been held between the state government and the land developer, but it did not bear fruit.
Hence, Amirudin offered an alternative to the national cricket association if a favourable solution could not be achieved soon.
"It is a challenge if the land owner does not agree [to retain the Oval].
"I will have to discuss with the MCA to find a new venue, and the state government is ready to cooperate in preparing and allocating a less expensive area and not burdening them.
"If the MCA can identify a suitable site in Selangor, we are willing to cooperate because the progress of cricket at the national level is also related to the state development of cricket in Selangor," he told Astro Arena.
