Alabama freshman guard Collin Sexton, a five-star prospect projected to be a 2018 NBA Draft lottery pick, remains ineligible by the NCAA, the school announced Monday.

“We don’t have any further information at this time, but we will continue to cooperate with the NCAA and work toward a resolution that results in Collin’s timely reinstatement,” Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne said in a statement before Monday's exhibition against Alabama-Huntsville (via al.com). "While we are disappointed, the right decision was to err on the side of caution for tonight's exhibition game."

Sexton's eligibility has likely been questioned because of Alabama's involvement in the FBI investigations into wrongdoing related to college basketball recruiting.

Kobie Baker, a Crimson Tide administrator, resigned at the end of September after admitting to Alabama officials that he was "Staff Member 1" in the federal complaint that rocked college basketball, an unidentified source told AL.com.

Sexton, a 6-2 point guard, played in the McDonald's All-American game last spring and is considered by many to be a program-altering talent for coach Avery Johnson.

Fellow five-star freshman John Petty is eligible for Alabama, and he scored 14 points Monday night in a 74-65 exhibition win against Alabama-Huntsville.
