2018 NBA All-Star Game: Starters, Captains revealed for new format

LeBron James and Stephen Curry will select the rosters for the NBA All-Star Game Feb. 18 at Staples Center after being named team captains under the new All-Star setup.

The All-Star Game format, which traditionally has been formed as Eastern Conference vs. Western Conference teams, was changed in October. This year will be the first time the leading vote-getter from each conference (James and Curry) will captain his team and draft from a pool of players voted as starters and reserves.

James and Curry will be starters for the exhibition game in Los Angeles and will select four other starters, regardless of conference, in what Kenny Smith called "an old fashioned pick-up game," during TNT's announcement of the starting roster Thursday.

Fans made up 50 percent of the voting (active NBA players and NBA media made up 25 percent each). All-Star reserves (selected by NBA head coaches) will be announced Jan. 23 and the full team rosters will be unveiled Jan. 25 all on TNT.
