Lee Zii Jia made his career breakthrough on Sunday as he won the men's singles title at Chinese Taipei Open, one of the Super 300 tournaments held this season.
The 20-year-old defeated Japan's Riichi Takeshita 21-17, 16-21, 21-11 in 62 minutes at the Taipei Arena to secure the BWF World Tour win, his first since ending his junior career.
His previous success at senior level was winning the lower-tier Polish International title in 2017.
Lee, who reached the final after beating defending champion Chou Tien Chen in the semi-finals, also became the first Malaysian men's singles shuttler to win the tournament since Lee Chong Wei in 2004.
