Lee Zii Jia pulled out of the upcoming Hylo Open in Germany (November 1-6) due to personal reasons after it was revealed his grandfather had passed away earlier this week.
“Zii Jia will withdraw from the upcoming Hylo Open due to a personal matter which requires him to return to Malaysia. Thanks for all the warm messages and concern. Hopefully he will come back soon in action,” read a statement from his official social media account.

It is unclear if the world number two will compete at the Australia Open (November 15-20), as the shuttler did mention he may compete at the Sydney event last month.
Lee, is also slated to take part at the World Tour Finals in China (December 14-18) as one of the top eight ranked shuttlers, had an indifferent outing in Europe.
He did well to reach the Denmark Open final before being ousted by China’s Shi Yu Qi to the title, and lost in the opening round of the French Open to Shesar Hiren Rhustavito of Indonesia.
Lee soldiered on to play in that match on Tuesday, despite mourning the loss of his grandfather who passed away the day earlier.
