Malaysia's hopes of seeing a first men's doubles in the World Championships final in 11 years were dashed after Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi crashed out in straight games 13-21, 9-21 against Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi.

The in-form Japanese duo are one of the hottest pairs at the moment, winning three titles in the last two months at the Denmark Open, Indonesia Masters and World Tour Finals as well as bagging a runners-up finish at the Indonesia Open.

That form showed as the fifth seeds pulled away after an even opening exchanges to win the first game 21-13.

The Japanese were brilliant in reading the Malaysian's game, and were quick to react and exploit the mistakes for the straightforward lead.

Ong-Teo needed a strong start in the second game, but their game were littered with numerous unforced errors as Hoki-Kobayashi racked up a 11-3 advantage at the interval.

Any hopes of a mighty comeback did not look to materialise at all as Hoki-Kobayashi continued to dominate in aggressive fashion to wrap up the match in only 32 minutes.

Ong-Teo nonetheless would still return home with a bronze medal after reaching the last four.

For Hoki-Kobayashi, this marks their second consecutive World Championships final after the Basel 2019 edition.

The women's singles final sees the top two seeds Tai Tzu-ying and Akane Yamaguchi face off, while the mixed doubles final pit Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai against Japan's Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino.

The women's doubles final also witnesses a top two pairs showdown between Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan and Lee Sohee-Shin Seung-chan.
