Malaysia mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei expressed their excitement of making their BWF World Championships debut in Copenhagen in less than a week.

Hovering just outside the top 10, the world number 16 pair came a long way since they were paired only late last year for an initial agreement of playing together for just one tournament.

Chen-Toh ended up winning that event in Bangladesh, and followed it up with three titles this year including two on this year's World Tour at the Orleans Masters and Taipei Open.

“As we continue to win, opponents will continue to analyse and study our game. So it’s important that we keep adjusting our game according to the situation.

“We have never underestimated any opponent. We just want to keep improving and pushing ourselves, which means focusing on every training session. We’re excited for our debut, we have been training hard for it.

“We will analyse our opponents’ game and be prepared for a tough fight,” the pair told Stadium Astro.

Chen-Toh are expected to face Hong Kong pair Reginald Lee-Ng Tsz Yau in the first round, whom they defeated in the only encounter at the Singapore Open in June.

The rising combination are one of three Malaysians mixed doubles pairs in action at the Denmark spectacle beginning next Monday.

The other two pairs are Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai, who have a bye to the next round, and Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing, who are expected to cruise past their Maldivian opponents.

The latter pair did not progress past the second round this year, but Tan was optimistic of a turnaround.

“We are showing improvement in our last few outings and we hope to keep that going,” he said.
