Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah are one match away from securing a World Championships medal after the national women’s pair turned in a sublime performance to check into the last eight in Paris.

The second seeds needed less than 30-minutes to brush aside Indonesian pair Lanny Tria-Siti Fadia Ramadhanti 21-12, 21-11.

There is certainly more to come from the Malaysians after this win, as Tan-Thinaah were not pushed hard to claim the win.

The world number two pair are not dwelling too much into both their victories so far, despite winning comfortably in both matches.

“We are not thinking too much about our form, we just hope to maintain this level of performance. What we need to improve is to reduce our unforced errors,” said Thinaah.

Next up for the Malaysians are Bulgarian sisters Gabriela-Stefani Stoeva, who played exceptionally well to beat Japan’s Yuki Fukushima-Mayu Matsumoto.

It will be detrimental for Tan-Thinaah to underestimate the prowess of the Europeans, who also handed a trashing to national pair Teoh Mei Xing-Go Pei Kee in the first round.

In total, there are five Malaysian pairs who will see action in the quarter-finals.

They include Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun.
