Newly reunited men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin put on a much improved performance to check into the US Open semi-finals as they stayed on course for a fairytale return by attempting to win this event.
Goh-Izzuddin, seeded third at Council Bluffs, were much more composed and clinical in their 21-15, 21-19 victory over Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Hsiang-chieh-Yang Ming-tse sealed after 38 minutes.

It was a much welcomed result for the Malaysians, who were pushed to the wire against Americans Chen Zhi Yi-Presley Smith in their bid to reach the quarter-finals.
Goh-Izzuddin sealed the opening game in fairly comfortable fashion, and left it late to mount a comeback in the second game that saw them trail for most parts.
It was from point 16 where both shuttlers took turns to rack up the points with big smashes to seal passage into the last four, where they face Chinese pair Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi.
It is set to be their toughest test yet, as the fifth seeds already clinched two titles this year.
For the record, Goh-Izzuddin are playing together for the first time in almost six months after deciding to go separate ways earlier this year.
They tried playing with different partners without much success before deciding to renew their partnership again.
Good luck in the #USOpen2023 semi-finals, FeiDin! ?
