Ng Tze Yong is set to undergo surgery at a renowned hospital in Doha, Qatar where international sports stars such as Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele have all praised the facility.
Ng will undergo surgery for his right Anterior Cruciate Ligament, which he ruptured during the Malaysia Masters clash against Angus Ng Ka Long back in May.
The National Sports Institute recommended the Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, and they are currently in contact with the hospital to find a suitable date for the surgery.
The famed Aspetar hospital has been a facility for many superstars such as Haaland and Mbappe.
“The facilities and clinicians I met at Aspetar were excellent,” said Haaland after the Manchester City striker underwent a rehab programme for his hamstring injury back in 2020.
Mbappe described the facility as “incredible” and recommended Aspetar for injury and recovery purposes, while Dembele also spoke highly of the hospital.
Ng’s latest setback will rule him out of competition this year, and potentially the first half of next year.
But with the expertise that Aspetar is set to provide, it is hoped the shuttler would be able to make a speedy and safe recovery.
Prior to his unfortunate injury, Ng spent 14-months on the sidelines after recovering from two back surgeries.
The national men's singles shuttler’s ranking has since dropped to 195
