Cheah Liek Hou delivered Malaysia's second gold medal of the Tokyo Paralympics after defeating world number one Dheva Anrimusthi in the men's singles SU5 (upper body disability) final on Saturday.

The five-time world champion, Malaysia's fourth Tokyo Paralympics medalist after Bonnie Bunyau Gustin (gold), Jong Yee Khie (silver) and Chew Wei Lun (silver), overcame his Indonesian opponent in 50 minutes, winning 21-17, 21-15.

With the victory in Tokyo, the 33-year-old also extended his impressive winning run in the men's singles SU5 category since 2019.

Cheah's last defeat coincidentally came against Dheva at the 2019 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships.

He reached the final with a perfect group record, beating Egypt's Ahmed Eldakrory, Chinese Taipei shuttler Fang Jen-yu and Japanese representative Taiyo Imai.

He then faced Fang again in the semi-finals, which he won 15-21, 21-10, 21-16.

Badminton became an official Paralympic Games sport for the first time this year.
