Tokyo Olympics: Shock early exit for Jun Hoong as Pandelela squeezes through to diving semi-final

The Malaysian diving contingent almost had a day to forget on Wednesday as Pandelela Rinong and Cheong Jun Hoong struggled in the women's 10-metre platform preliminary round at the 2020 Olympic Games.

Pandelela, who finished eighth in the women's synchro 10m platform final with Leong Mun Yee last week, narrowly made it through to Thursday's semi-finals with 284.90 points to finish within the top 18, while Cheong finished 26th with 251.80 points.

Chinese divers set the benchmark with Chen Yuxi scoring 390.70 points and Quan Hongchan trailing behind with 364.45 points.

Delaney Schnell of the United States moved herself into medal contention with 360.75 points.
