Nur Shazrin Latif bagged an impressive third place in the opening race of the women's laser radial event at the 2020 Olympic Games on Sunday.

The 23-year-old, who won bronze at the 2018 Asian Games and four medals at the SEA Games, crossed the line just behind Spain's Cristina Pujol Bajo (46:52) and Greece's Vasileia Karachaliou (46:57) at the Enoshima Yacht Harbor.

However, in the second race held later on the same day, she only managed to finish 25th, putting her in 11th place among 44 sailors in the overall standings with eight more races to go.

In the previous Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nur Shazrin finished 33rd overall in the same event.
