Perjalanan pemain perseorangan negara, Lee Zii Jia, terhenti dalam separuh akhir saingan Terbuka Switzerland selepas tewas kepada wakil Thailand, Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
Selepas dikritik hebat berikutan prestasi buruknya dalam dua kejohanan Terbuka Thailand sebelum ini, jaguh negara itu bangkit mempamerkan semangat juangnya di Basel hingga berjaya melangkah ke separuh akhir.
Bertemu Vitidsarn -- juara remaja dunia tiga kali -- Zii Jia berusaha cemerlang dalam set pertama namun terpaksa akur dengan kekalahan 21-18.
Segalanya seakan tidak menjadi buat Zii Jia apabila mata demi mata diperoleh lawan hingga menoktahkan permainan 21-10.
Turut menemui jalan keluar adalah pasangan beregu campuran negara, Chan Peng Soon-Lai Pei Jing, yang kecundang di tangga pilihan keenam kejohanan dari Perancis, Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue 21-19, 21-10.
