Vivian dan Khe Wei mengambil masa 32 minit untuk memastikan kemaraan ke separuh akhir. Satu lagi gandingan beregu wanita negara, Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yeann turut mara ke separuh akhir selepas menewaskan satu lagi pasangan Chinese Taipei, Hsu Ya Ching-Wu Ti Jung, 21-12, 21-14.
Sementara itu, pemenang pingat perak Sukan Olimpik Rio 2016, Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying, terpaksa akur dengan kehebatan gandingan China, Zhang Nan-Li Yinhui, apabila tewas 12-21, 22-20, 15-21 dalam pertarungan satu jam lapan minit.
Kekecewaan Peng Soon dan Liu Ying ditebus oleh gandingan campuran kedua negara, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing, selepas berjaya menyerap tekanan gandingan Indonesia, Alfian Eko Prasetya-Annisa Saufika, 22-20, 24-22.
Dalam pada itu, wakil tunggal perseorangan wanita dan lelaki negara, Chong Wei Feng dan Goh Jin Wei ditunjukkan jalan keluar oleh lawan masing-masing.
