Suka dalam duka! Itu reaksi Wong Tat Meng selepas sah bergelar ketua jurulatih badminton Scotland bermula 9 Januari depan ketika kudratnya baru sembilan hari membimbing skuad perseorangan lelaki badminton negara.
Tat Meng sudah memaklumkan kepada Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) tiga hari lalu untuk tidak menyambung kontraknya yang bakal tamat hujung tahun ini.
Pengendali kelahiran Ipoh, Perak itu tidak menyangka terpilih untuk menggalas tanggungjawab besar di Scotland kerana lebih cenderung membimbing pemain perseorangan.
"Saya menerima tawaran itu selepas ditemuduga. Saya pasti akan membuat perubahan terhadap barisan pemain-pemain Scotland supaya dapat membawa kemajuan terhadap badminton Scotland," tekad Tat Meng.
Namun, pengalaman luas bersama BAM selain banyak bekerjasama dengan jurulatih luar di bawah naungan BAM akan menjadi kekuatannya.
"Saya mengucapkan ribuan terima kasih kepada BAM kerana telah membentuk saya seperti hari ini.
"Kalau bukan kerana platform yang diberikan BAM, saya pasti tidak akan berani untuk menawarkan diri kepada Persatuan Badminton Scotland."
