Mixed doubles world champion Chen Tang Jie recently showed off the multitude of tattoos he has on his body, explaining each of the ink specifically on his left arm.
The first tattoos he explained on his wrist are his dogs, one of which is named Brownie.
The next tattoo Chen explained was a depiction of a person deep in thought.
“This is about someone’s soul, which is their biggest form of freedom.”
Chen then rolled up his sleeve to reveal a hand holding an antique clock.
“This was during the pandemic, a time which I felt passed too fast. It is a reminder for me to use my time properly. The clock hands also indicate the time I was born,” he added.
The 27-year-old then turned his hand over to indicate another ink of two adults holding the hands of two children.
“This is my family, and the angel that protects my family,” he said, pointing to another tattoo.
Of course, badminton, the centre stage of his life, is not to be left out. Chen went on to show a shuttlecock which sits on his biceps.
The shuttler explained he has more inks on other parts of his body, perhaps to be shown another time.
Chen, alongside partner Toh Ee Wei will next see action on the European tour where they will most likely compete at the Denmark Open.
