Malaysia is ensured a representative in the Taipei Open final with top seeds Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi and defending champions Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun facing each other in Saturday's semi-finals.
Ong-Teo had to keep their nerves to recover from a game down to beat home pair Fang Chih-lee-Fang Jen-lee 15-21, 21-19, 21-17 in a 66-minute contest.
As for Man-Tee, they were also fired up in their 21-19, 21-19 triumph over fourth seeds Lee Jhe-huei-Yang Po-hsuan.
It promises to be an entertaining encounter between both these pairs who already reached a final this year, but fell short to finish second.
Ong-Teo lost the Asian Championships final in three close games, and it was the same with Man-Tee who fell in the Malaysia Masters final.
Joining the men's doubles pairs in the semi-finals were Orleans Masters champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei.
The rising mixed doubles stars were in their elements to come away with a 21-15, 21-14 triumph over Yang Po-hsuan-Hu Ling-fang.
The world number 19 pair next face home pair Ye Hong Wei-Lee Chia-hsin for a place in the final.
Meanwhile, Hoo Pang Ron-Teoh Mei Xing and Yeoh Seng Zoe’s runs came to an end after straight game losses in the quarter-finals.
That 'perang saudara' means Malaysia will have at least one representative in the #TaipeiOpen2023 finals! ?
