Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun checked into their second final of the year after they won their Taipei Open men’s doubles duel in a convincing manner on Saturday.

Man-Tee needed only 36 minutes to brush aside Su Ching Heng-Ye Hong Wei 21-13, 22-20 to secure a showdown against Olympic champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi-lin.

The world number 36 Malaysian pair had been consistent in this Super 300 event, winning almost all their matches in straight games.

If Man-Tee pull off an upset against their overwhelming favourite opponents, it would be their second title after the Syed Modi International crown in January.

Their solid performance also ended Malaysia's poor run of five consecutive BWF World Tour tournaments without reaching the finals.

Lee-Wang made the final in front of their home fans after a 21-10, 21-14 win over independent pair Boon Xin Yuan-Wong Tien Ci.

Soong Joo Ven’s gallant run also came to an end at the hands of Chou Tien-chen in the men’s singles after the top seed easily overcame the Malaysian 21-12, 21-12.

In the mixed doubles, new pair Hoo Pang Ron-Toh Ee Wei put on a spirited showing against Reginald Lee-Ng Tsz Yau, but the Hong Kong pair ended up prevailing 23-21, 23-21.
