Taipei Open: Tang Jie-Ee Wei, Wei Chong-Kai Wun deliver titles for Malaysia

Malaysia enjoyed their most successful BWF World Tour outing this year after mixed and men’s doubles pairs Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun captured both Taipei Open titles.
It was a phenomenal Sunday in Taipei, with Chen-Toh first winning the mixed doubles title after a 21-12, 21-8 victory over Chiu Hsiang-chieh-Lin Xiao-min, and Man-Tee defending their title with a 20-22, 21-17, 21-14 win over Lu Ching-yao-Yang Po-han.
Chen-Toh were first up, and they will probably never have a more straightforward final contest as they comprehensively dominated to seal their second title of the season in just 30 minutes.

The class of the Malaysians told against their opponents ranked in the top 50, as Chen-Toh started applying the pressure from the first point.
The home pair were on the back foot so much so that Chen found himself on the front court for winners on several occasions, while earning unforced errors from their opponents for the points.
Toh later paid tribute to her partner for the amazing team-work throughout this Super 300 event.
“We will continue to stay humble and train hard. It’s time to take a short break from tournaments and focus on our training,” she said.
In the final match of the day, Man-Tee made it a double joy for Malaysia as they won in three games.
In the opener against opponents they were playing for the first time, Man-Tee found themselves on the brink of taking the first game with a 20-18 lead, having trailed for the entire passage of play prior.
However, they could not convert, leaving Lu-Yang to deservedly win that.
The Malaysians improved in the second by reducing the unforced errors for the 21-17 win to take the game into a decider, which they made their own with a sublime overall display.
Other results saw top seeded Chinese Taipei ace Tai Tzu-ying clinch the women’s singles title courtesy of a 21-14, 21-17 over American Zhang Beiwen.
Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo won the men’s singles after a straight-game success over Su Li-yang, while South Korea’s Lee Yu-lim-Shin Seung-chan recovered from a game down to oust Indonesians Febriana Dwipuji-Amalia Cahaya 18-21, 21-17, 21-17 in the women’s doubles.
