Taipei Open: Tang Jie, Ee Wei progress with different partners

Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei progressed to the Taipei Open mixed doubles quarter-finals, but not as a pair as both shuttlers teamed up with new partners.
Toh and her partner Loo Bing Kun, seeded sixth in this Super 300 event, did well to progress after coming from a game down to beat South Korea’s Ki Dong-ju-Jeong Na-eun 15-21, 23-21, 21-8 in an hour's battle.
Similarly, Chen showed the same fighting spirit with his new partner Chan Wen Tse as the seventh seeds also came from a game down to beat Indonesians Marwan Faza-Aisyah Pranata 18-21, 21-18, 21-17.

Both Chen and Toh are, however, not destined to face each other in this competition just yet.
Toh-Loo will play Indonesia’s Dejan Ferdinansyah-Siti Fadia Ramadhanti in a big test on Friday, while Chen-Chan are also up against another Indonesian pair Bobby Setiabudi-Melati Oktavianti.
Chen-Toh are playing with different partners following their decision to split ways in March, and as a result the national association had registered them with different partners.
Even though the world number five pair have reunited last month, they will continue to play with their new partners in this tournament and also the upcoming Malaysia Masters (May 20-25).
Chen-Toh will be back together in action at the Singapore Open (May 27-June 1) and Indonesia Open (June 3-8).
